The extension and foyer gallery to the Surrey Institute of Art and Design is a contemporary steel, glass and fabric pavilion which provides a simple shop window for the James Hockey Gallery. It acts as a beacon to engage and attract the public, by providing a visually and physically transparent enclosure.
The building is designed to be visually and physically accessible and inviting. In contrast with a conventional art gallery, it becomes part of the Borelli Gardens by enabling clear views to and from the landscape.
